One Room Challenge Week 6

Refrigerator Makeover!

I had my heart set on a fridge with a classic, vintage feel—a piece that would add character and charm. When I couldn't find anything in my price range, I thought, why not create my own? Sometimes, the best pieces are the ones you make uniquely yours. I picked up a simple silver fridge and got ready to turn it into the statement piece of my dreams.

The Process:

  1. Choosing the Right Paint:After researching different paint options, I decided on Behr Matte Black Texture Spray Paint. This paint provided a bold, vintage-inspired look with a soft, textured finish that feels classic and sophisticated. I knew it would be a perfect fit for the aesthetic I was going for! I lightly sanded the fridge before spray paint.

  2. Adding the Handles:To get that vintage vibe, I needed the right handles—delicate, dainty gold ones that would add just the right touch. Using J-B Weld for heavy-duty bonding, I attached these handles directly to the fridge doors. For anyone who might be attempting something similar, this adhesive is a lifesaver! It’s incredibly strong, and it made the whole process feel professional and secure.

  3. Final Touches and Reflection:Was this level of detail necessary? Maybe not! But for the One Room Challenge, I wanted to go all in. Someone teased me about going "too far" for a rental property, and I couldn’t help but laugh—'too much' is my signature style!

The Reveal: The results were better than I’d imagined. It’s proof that with a bit of creativity and the right materials, you can make nearly any piece look high-end, unique, and full of personality.

Products Used:

  • Behr Matte Black Texture Spray Paint

  • J-B Weld adhesive

Would I Do It Again? Absolutely. This project might have been a little extra, but for me, that's what makes it so satisfying. Sometimes, it’s the “too much” details that make a space feel like home. I can’t wait to show the full transformation next week—this space is coming together better than I ever hoped!
